Introduction
AMP (Alternative Maritime Power), also known as shore power, cold ironing or onshore power supply, is the process of providing shore side electrical power to a ship at berth while its main and auxiliary engines are turned off. It is an effective way to prevent and control air pollution from berthed ships.
On board AMP system comprises major equipment such as:
▪ Ship-to-shore connection and interface equipment, like Cable Reel/Cable Management System and High Voltage Socket Box.
▪ High Voltage Shore Connection Switchboard, 11kV or 6.6kV.
▪ Step-down transformer, when it is applicable.
▪ Shore Receiving Panel, 11kV, 6.6kV, 6kV, 0.69kV, 0.45kV or 0.4kV.
